The Islamic Guidance Centre aims to offer specific services solely for the purpose of the community and will be offered through our current and future projects. The services offered include:
Religious Advice and Counselling
The Islamic Guidance Centre is giving the opportunity for Muslims to turn to for help and advice in all aspects of life. The centre has access to Imams trained to advise and counsel the concerns of individuals from our community including cultural and educational challenges, bereavement, mediation and social problems.
Marriage
The Islamic Guidance Centre understands that making a difference in society can come primarily through successful family life. Marriage is seen as a great joy and the building blocks of successful family life. Here at the centre, we facilitate for the solemnization of and Islamic contract of marriage. A further certificate of ‘Nikah’ will be provided for newly-married couples confirming they have been married according to Islamic Shariah Law.
Youth
Located in the heart of Tower Hamlets, the Islamic Guidance Centre is driven at providing a wholesome education in East London. Our evening and weekend Islamic school promote the opportunity to learn about Islam and the Arabic Language in an Islamic environment.
Here at the centre, we are fully aware that Islamic education is not the only form of education we should provide. We aspire to help create leaders in every field, be it in languages or science & technology. Our study programmes ensure that our youth can achieve above national standards in the mainstream national curriculum giving them the advantage to progress in higher education. Set up by the former youth of Tower Hamlets, teachers are all graduate or qualified teachers in their respective field.
Adult Education
We also understand that adults in our community equally deserve the opportunity to benefit from an Islamic education. We provide adult courses for beginners leading all the way to advanced topics in Islamic education. We also have the network to advise individuals of various opportunities available in the wider community.
Lectures and Training
The Islamic Guidance Centre offers regular Tafsir of the Qur’an in English and Bengali with various Halaqahs on a range of topics open to all age groups. We run programmes in leadership and social cohesion as well as training in issues related to Fiqh.
We believe that in addition to spiritual welfare, the social welfare of every individual is as important. We encourage positive social welfare and are open to the community in attempting to tackle the negative effects of society. The Islamic Guidance Centre wish to set up a number of long term youth and community projects to encourage positive social welfare. These projects will work with both the local and wider community.
