How donations to the Centre for Islamic Guidance work, how Gift Aid adds to your gift at no cost to you, and how to change or cancel your giving.

Giving to the Centre

Donations help us run our community centre, education and training, welfare support and other charitable work. You can give by setting up a standing order with your own bank. Our online Standing Order and Gift Aid form records your details and your Gift Aid declaration so we can match your payments. We never ask for your own bank details online: you give the instruction to your bank yourself.

You can find our donation form on the Donate page.

How we use donations

Donations are used for the charitable purposes of the Centre for Islamic Guidance. If we ever receive more for a particular appeal than we can use, or an appeal cannot go ahead, we will use the funds for similar charitable work of the Centre.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets the Centre claim an extra 25p from HMRC for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you. When you complete the Gift Aid declaration, you confirm that:

  • you want your current donation, any future donations, and any you made in the past four years to be treated as Gift Aid donations to Centre for Islamic Guidance;
  • you are a UK taxpayer and understand that, if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations, it is your responsibility to pay the difference.

Gift Aid is optional, and you can still give if you do not complete the declaration. Please tell us if you want to cancel your declaration, change your name or home address, or no longer pay enough tax to cover Gift Aid on your donations. Gift Aid can only be claimed on your own money, not on money from a company or a shared account, and not on payments for goods or services.

Changing or cancelling your standing order

Your standing order is an instruction to your bank, so you can change or cancel it at any time through your bank. Please also let us know so we can keep our records right. Cancelling will not affect donations already made.

Refunds

Donations are generally not refundable once given. If you think a payment was made in error, such as a wrong amount or a duplicate, please contact us as soon as you can and we will look into it.

Your information

We use your details to process your donation and, where you have signed a declaration, to claim Gift Aid. We keep Gift Aid records for at least six years, as HMRC requires. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
